In the context of the celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Centre for Philosophy of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) organizes the 4th Lisbon International Conference on Philosophy of Science (LICPOS 2023), from the 12th to the 15th July 2023, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Ciências ULisboa).
The Lisbon International Conferences on Philosophy of Science (LICPOS) are periodic conferences directed to a wide audience with interests in the philosophy of science broadly conceived. Reflecting the main areas of research of CFCUL it will explore mostly subjects related to:
Epistemology and Methodology;
General Philosophy of Science;
Philosophy of Logic and Mathematics;
Philosophy of Physics;
Philosophy of the Life Sciences;
Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence and Computation;
Philosophy of Cognitive Sciences;
Philosophy of Technology;
Philosophy of the Human Sciences, Ethics, and Politics;
Science and Art.
However, scholars working on any topic of interest in philosophy of science are invited to be part of the conference.
A selection of papers will be published in a special issue of Global Philosophy, former Axiomathes (Springer).
The conference will be exclusively in person.
As a satellite event, on July 15, LICPOS 2023 will host the 2nd Meeting of the Iberian Network of Philosophy of Science (ReIFiCi).
This conference is funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) through the base funding UIDB/00678/2020, and has the support of the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (Ciências ULisboa).
